The BU19/20 Dix Hills Elite have done it again, winning the ENYYSA State Cup for the 4th time in 7 years.
This is another Dix Hills team of extremely dedicated players and families, that has earned many honors over the years, having reached the State Cup finals 6 out of the past 7 years, winning it, now a total of 4 times. They have made 5 trips to the Regional Championships and 3 trip to the National Championships, with a possibility of a fourth, if they are successful at Regionals at the end of this month.
Most of the players on this team, have been playing at the highest level of Travel soccer for the past 10 years and are currently freshmen in College, where again, most of them are playing Division 1, 2 or 3 college soccer. They returned from college in May, and have been training hard together to have one last trip to dance. This requires them to win the State Cup (done), then win the Regional Championship (end of June), to afford them an opportunity to win the National Championship in July. The Elite are eager to get back to the National Championship final, having narrowly missed being crowned Champions in 2013, with a 2-1 loss in overtime in the finals.
They will have company at Regionals, as the BU18 Dix Hills Hurricanes will also be there representing New York State as current State Champions at the U18 level.
I think everyone in this club, this community and Long Island, should be extremely proud of all of these boys (young men), who, in many cases have dedicated more than half of their lives, working hard and constantly striving for improvement and to being the best soccer players that they can be.
We in Dix Hills Soccer Club, send, to the players and the families of these great young athletes, our heartfelt congratulations and best fortunes at the Regional Championships and beyond. Play hard boys.
